Nokia completes Plazes acquisition

Nokia announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Plazes (www.plazes.com), a privately-owned start-up company of 13 people with its principal operations in Berlin. The deal was initially announced on June 23, 2008.

By acquiring Plazes, Nokia will extend its context-based service offering with social presence and time-based activity planning features. Plazes adds the elements of “place” and “time” to social networking through features that allow people to alert friends of their activity and location; review their own and others’ past activities; share their experiences and make plans with friends, who are then able to respond with comments and suggestions as well as their own location information.

Sony Ericsson W302 Walkman: affordable and has modest specs

We have told you about the Sony Ericsson W902 and then the Sony Ericsson W595 and now we bring you the last mobile phone that Sony Ericsson announced today which is the very affordable and modest spec Sony Ericsson W302.

The Sony Ericsson W302 is going to be the cheapest of the bunch and will have modest specs but yet still a very good phone to have.

It features a 2 megapixel camera and course still has the Walkman feature, so you know that you are getting a very good music mobile phone, it also sports a 176 x 220 pixel 262K color TFT display.

The downside to this phone is that it comes with NO 3G but it does have FM radio with RDS, it is also the slimmest of the bunch at only 10.5 mm.
It will be available in n Midnight Black and Sparkling White and will hit the shelves in Q4 2008.

Samsung launches SGH-M150 candy-bar in Germany in August

Samsung has just added another candy-bar style mobile phone to their Korean collection, the SGH-M150, a sleek and stylish dual band mobile phone that has been designed for everyday usage.

The new Samsung M150 is GSM 900/1800MHz with 1.77 inch 252k colour TFT display, built-in VGA camera, and incorporates advanced messaging capabilities which support MMS and SMS along with email.

The Samsung SGH-M150 also features hands-free with Bluetooth and integrated speakerphone along with an FM radio and built in music player.

Samsung has made the SGH-M150 mobile phone available in varying colours such as pure white, lavender pink, ice blue, charcoal grey, and light grey, and should become available at launch in Germany sometime in August.

The new LG KS360 is now available in Europe this week. The KS360 featuring a sliding QWERTY keypad, touchscreen for dialing only, 2 megapixel camera and MicroSD card slot.

The Dark Knight app swoops onto iPhone at App Store

The latest blockbuster movie The Dark Knight will soon be upon us all whether Batman fan or not we are going to see The Dark Knight everywhere we look. And to help market the Caped Crusader, where better to place him than on the Apple iPhone.

Yes Bat-freaks there is now an iPhone application available through Apple’s App Store that will let you take your Batman enthusiasm that bit further but allowing you to make yourself look as crazy as Batman’s arch villain the Joker.

Once you have the app simply snap a picture of yourself on your iPhone and apply some cool Joker-ish style makeup and all with the touch of your finger.

The Dark knight iPhone application is much the same sort of app as the Pirate app which ushered in National Pirate Day last year, so let’s hope this doesn’t mean a National Batman Day will ensue. So if you want a “Dark” makeover pop along to the Apple App Store and grab the app.
